Working at Heights Refresher Course

Working at heights training is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful completion of an approved program. All learners who wish to maintain the validity of their working at heights training past this three-year period need to successfully complete refresher training.
- Barriers and other fixed equipment
- Personal fall protection equipment (travel restraint, fall restricting, fall arrest systems)
- Anchor points
- Work positioning systems, work access and platforms
- Rescue planning
It includes a hands-on demonstration of equipment and procedures to ensure learners can successfully inspect and use the required fall protection equipment.

There is a written quiz at the end of each module.

Refresher training is valid for another three (3) year period from the date of successful completion of the refresher training.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE
Imagine if you will, a serious workplace accident has occurred, or you’re with your family or friends and someone yells for help!

The workplace and life, in general, are full of hazards everywhere we turn. Traditional first aid courses are designed for low-risk urban settings where risk is minimal. In the workplace though, we know that both the likelihood and severity of illness or injury are greater due to the nature of the activities we engage in and the environment we work in. The situation is then compounded by the extended period of time to definitive care, meaning YOU as the responder must be able to deal with the casualty for longer.

We are honoured to have Cobalt Safety’s own Tim Cole lead and oversee our First Aid trainers and ensure quality real-life Emergency Response training for your staff.

Tim Cole served Canada as part of the Canadian Armed Forces, with 4 of those years on the Canadian Special Operations Force as a Jump Medic and Advanced Combat Care Technician, Tim participated in various Canadian combat deployments and we are proud to have him on our staff.

Safety Information! This course involves both theory and practical portions. Participants will be on the ground, physically active, and may engage in heavy lifting. Those with injuries or medical conditions are asked to get a physician’s approval prior to taking the course. Participants are asked to wear clothes that can get dirty as the use of fake washable blood is used during the course. Anyone who may have issues with fake blood or simulated injuries is asked to notify the instructor ahead of time.

CONFINED SPACE ENTRY
Confined Space Level 1 Operational

The intent of this course is to provide the learner with information about hazards and hazard control measures and procedures that will permit safe work inside confined spaces.

Course Objectives

Learner objectives for this course are;
- recognize common terms associated with confined space work
- identify the duties and responsibilities of personnel involved with confined space work.
- distinguish between permit-required confined space,non-confined space permit required spaces
- identify, mitigate and control hazards associated with confined space work
- identify hazardous atmospheres, and equipment used to detect and monitor them
- recognize signs and symptoms of overexposure
- identify the necessary equipment to be used in confined space entries
- specify safe entry procedures for confined spaces
- recognize permit entry, signs and posting of confined space entry
This course is 4.5 hours long

ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM WORKER AWARENESS
This course is designed to provide general information and instruction regarding the hazards associated with operating Elevated Work Platforms. (EWP’s)

The course covers the following information;
- Federal and Provincial Regulations
- Manufactures Operating Manuals and requirements
- Basic types of Elevated Work Platforms
- Employer and Worker Responsibilities
- Safety pre-operational checks, inspections and tests
- Parts and functions of different EWP’s
- Identification of hazards common to working with EWP’s
- Hands on performance evaluation.
Note: all learners must have working at heights training prior to attending this course.

WHMIS 2015

WHMIS 2015 (Workplace Hazard Materials Information System) is required by every worker in your workplace who may use or come in contact with WHMIS materials.

Our Consultants will provide the new Canadian WHMIS 2015 training in the comfort of your workplace. Certificates will be issued directly to your workers.

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE AND HARASSMENT
Workplace Violence and Harassment training for workers is mandatory in many Canadian Provinces and is highly recommended for all workplaces.

While exact definitions vary in legislation, generally speaking workplace violence or harassment includes:
- Threatening behaviours – such as shaking fists, destroying property or throwing objects.
- Verbal or written threats – any expression of an intent to inflict harm.
- Verbal abuse – swearing, insults or condescending language.
- Physical attacks – hitting, shoving, pushing or kicking.

WORKPLACE INSPECTIONS

This course is designed to increase the skills of Joint Health and Safety Committee or Health and Safety representatives, Supervisors, Safety professionals, and anyone who has a role or duty to inspect the workplace.

Many people know how to see the obvious but it’s the things you don’t see that can become the accident or incidents in the future.

This course is best completed at your workplace and can include not just the practical but an actual walk-around inspection with our professionals.

Minimum Class size of 5 people.

TRAFFIC CONTROL OTM BOOK 7 AND TCP
When it comes to hazards Traffic is right up there. Many workers have been struck by cars and there have even been workers killed by cars hitting them in a trench.

ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Workplace accident and Incident investigation can serve many purposes from prevention to litigation defense.

Many courses teach basic methods however at Cobalt Safety we have preformed over 575 critical or fatality events in both Provincial Prosecutions and Client defense investigations many courses are missing the mark when it comes to workplace investigations.

Basic workplace investigation can be taught by many people but the fine art of interviewing people, the PEACE method of investigation and what evidence to obtain for due diligence, what questions to ask and how to determine direct causes, contributing causes and root causes of incidents takes some training.

This course is a full day course and trains the following information;
